Sales positions and a base pay vs. strictly commissioned positions

This email came from someone who has been in sales and has seen MANY different sales settings.

Dear America's Work Stories,

I'm writing because there are many organizations that are not offering a base pay, have a draw against comimssion structure and/or hold out commissions until the checks come from the clients.

As sales people, whether it's a product or service, we need a base salary that's ours and commission checks that come in when the sale is made. Why is it that corporate america doesn't understand that the bills don't stop coming in and we have kids to feed as well.

By having this blog, we thank you for giving us a venue to share these issues so everyone can hear what is happening in the sales world.
